Having been to Lily Dale twice in the ‘off’ season, I very much enjoyed this and would like to go again when it is open.

Cool! I don’t know how far you are from Lily Dale of course, but an ‘in season’ visit is definitely worth the trip!

Hi there,, you mentioned you were there in the off season. I am wondering did you make a day of it or where you there as an over night guest. Can you tell me what your purpose for going during the off season as I am interested in going during this time as well. Thank-you

        Hi Paula,

Sorry for any confusion, but we were definitely there during the ‘in season’. We don’t have too much knowledge about what goes on in the community during the off season, but feel free to report back to us with what you find!

This is so awesome, especially the fairy part. I’d love walking in there to “another world”. These houses are amazing… love them!

It really was a cool place to walk around. Probably worth the trip just for that!

We have a ton of things going on in the off-season! Check out the Church of the Living Spirit website for ongoing classes and info on speakers every Sunday. And every Wednesday evening at the healing temple there is a healing and message service. Unfortunately, all of the restaurants are closed. However, so is the gate, meaning your entry is free! : )

      Hello,

I read your post before I drove the over an hour drive to get there while on vacation in upstate New York.
Upon arriving I found that everything was closed. Asked several residents and was informed that not a thing was going on. I wandered around for about an hour determined to find something. Fairy Trail wasn’t visible and most mediums were closed. The stump was beautiful. Just when I thought I had come and nothing reached out to me I walked out of the Fairy Trail and found my name big, bold and in purple spray painted on the wall of a building. The Bargain Store was the only thing open with a very nice man behind the counter. Off Season was a disappointment to say the least, but I will most certainly be back during “season”.

Sorry you made such a long trip before taking my advice and checking the Church of the Living Spirit website to find out about classes and drum circles. Classes are held nightly at the church. Drum circles are twice a month. We have church services every Sunday. On the second Sunday of every month you can get mini readings after church and we have a community brunch. Did you come on a Wednesday evening (as I suggested) to do the free message service in the Healing Temple? I clearly stated that all restaurants are closed. The Crystal Cove is open most weekends throughout the fall.

[…] Lily Dale, New York is a spiritualist community located in New York. Its founders Kate and Margaret Fox moved here when it was purchased in 1927. Each year, thousands of people visit for classes, lectures, church services, and meetings with mediums. Perhaps some of the mysticism of Lily Dale came to Voodoo with the doors on the ceiling? To learn more about the spiritualist movement, check out this informative article over at the blog Exploring the Burned Over District. […]

I’ve just found your blog today – and I SO enjoy it…. the history, the religion. I’ve read about a few places already, but had to see if you wrote about my favorite 2. I am a member of Spiritus Christi in Rochester and have never found such welcoming, inclusive, loving people anywhere. Thank you. It was a really well done article. My other favorite place is Lily Dale. I have been there…. maybe 5 or six times over the last few years after we discovered it while dropping off one of our kids at SUNY Fredonia which is close by.

We love Lily Dale. This year, I finally got a private reading done and it was quite interesting. This year, my 25yo son was picked out of the crowd at the Forest Temple and delivered a message that in NO WAY would this medium (we had never heard of or seen before) would know. Mostly, I just love the peaceful atmosphere.

I look forward to reading more of your adventures!

I really enjoyed your article on Lily Dale, it is a special place to me as well, I am from the area originally, but moved away 30+ yrs ago. My Mom would take us there. Hope to visit again one day when I return to Fredonia. Thank You.
