    Yellow and red are my favorite colors so the pictures have really caught my attention. Do you know if there is anything significant or symbolic about those colors at the buddhadham or in the religion in general?

      It’s a complex answer and something I definitely need to learn more about, but from what I understand: This is a tradition that is brought from Tibet and Tibetan Buddhism. Yellow and red are reserved for temples and sacred places ONLY. The yellow comes from a poem from a man who courted a girl living in a yellow house. The red has a couple meanings, but most notably that it’s believed to help protect from evil.

    Hard to believe this town shares such a beautiful place along with the one where dad and I met! lol You guys are always so lucky in the wonderful, interesting people you meet. I loved all the pictures. Another interesting fun story.

    Very well written prose on a fascinating subject. I shuddered when I read about the neighbors not wanting the community – man do we have a long way to go huh? Glad that you hung in there (multiple times) and your patience was rewarded. Perhaps you can conduct your own tours?
