Exploring The Capital Region
With Albany being the capital of New York State, this region is filled with plenty to explore year round.
You’ll find plenty of great dining, cultural exhibits and entertainment scattered throughout the four-region county. There are free tours of the capital building in Albany, riverside walks in Troy, and old school Italian cuisine in Schenectady. An endless number of festivals means there’s always something new happening each weekend.
Like other parts of New York, there’s plenty to do here in each season. The nearby Hudson River is a great opportunity for a boat ride to leaf peep autumn colors. Even skiers and snowboarders will find there’s plenty of options in the winter months! It’d be easy to spend a day walking the streets of any city here, but natural landscapes in the Hudson Valley and the Adirondacks are an easy reach by car.
Whether you’re betting on horses in Saratoga or ice skating in the Empire State Plaza, there’s plenty to discover here. If you’re looking for a new spot in Upstate to explore but aren’t sure where to find it, this region is a great destination to explore!
