This Day In Upstate History

1897 The Orange County Agricultural Society purchases land at the Campbell tract in Middletown. After erecting buildings on the property, the Orange County Fair would take place on this spot into the future.

1912 The 121st Cavalry Troop F (earlier Troop H, the 'Rochester Cavalry') of the New York National Guard, musters in to service. It was headquartered at the Culver Road Armory in Rochester.

2005 The first annual Tora-Con, an anime convention hosted by RIT, features guests Rukis Croax, Luke Morgan, and Yuko "Aido" Ota.

2011 The first day of the two day seventh annual Tora-Con, an anime convention hosted at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The event featured special guests Chris Cason, Richard Epcar, Geek Comedy Tour, Brina Palencia, Chris Rager, Ellyn Stern, Uncle Yo.
