Exploring The Thousand Islands Seaway Region

The Thousand Islands Seaway Region is made up a few counties bordering the St. Lawrence River that divides New York from Canada.

There are miles and miles of agricultural communities in these counties, but bordering the river there is an enticing beltway of destinations. Because of its role as a transportation route, the St. Lawrence River has been the stage for some important pieces of New York’s past. You’ll find hints and homages to that history scattered throughout the region.

You can attend races in Oswego and even ride antique boats in Clayton. There are castles on islands to explore but plenty of campgrounds to hunker down on. There’s fishing opportunities that are renowned by anglers but also music and arts festivals for all.

No matter what you’re into, you’ll find a stay in this region to be both relaxing and inspiring.
